About accidents...

Last week I had a 'happy accident' moment. And here's how it all went down.

While out thrift shopping a few weeks ago, I found a nice long gray knitted scarf. I snagged it (because I have a small scarf addiction) and took it home to wash it.

It was 100% wool.

I didn't know that.

Washing and drying 100% wool, equals a LARGE amount of shrinkage and felted wool.

So needless to say, I couldn't wear the scarf now because it was too short and thick.

So I saw online how people are embellishing their clothes with spiral cut flowers.  You basically cut a circle out of felt, or felted wool and the cut into that circle around and around in a spiral fashion till you get to the center.  Then you roll it up into a flower, sew the layers in place and embellish.

In my half-done-never-finished way, I did that.  I completed two flowers, cut another and then lost steam and there the spiral strip of felted wool sat.

A couple weeks later, I was working away on my latest two pairs of Zombie jeans and had come to picture time.  My model was wearing a basic black tank shirt and she just needed something else.

The wool strip was STILL on my sewing desk.

I picked it up, wrapped it around her shoulder, pinned on one of the flowers I DID finish, and took her pics.

That shrug got WAY more interest than the jeans!

So, I'll use what I have left to make a few more to list on etsy this week.  Maybe someday I'll find another wool scarf to do a few more, but for now these few will have to do!

The ZOMBIES!

The entire line of BASIXzombie was inspired by a wicked scary repaint called Hollow Eve by Kedra.  I looked at her auction photos and imagined what she would be wearing if she came back from the grave...
Her clothes would be worn, torn, but still have style.  Then I started ripping, tearing, and sewing and ZOMBIE clothes were born.  They are so fun making, but take a TON of brain power to rip, sew, and style.  I love it though.  It's a huge creative outlet for me!

Some of my favorite Tonner repaints...

Here are some of my past Tonner repaints.  All are sold now, but so fun to remember!

It's funny, some dolls I immediately remember their names, and others I don't.  I remember playing with this girl, wanting to make 'glowing' eyes.  And then I chickened out on selling her once she was done.  I didn't list her for quite a while, and mentioned on a doll board I was going to wipe her clean and redo her, when someone wanted to buy her.  Guess sometimes there is a market for spooky dolls!

My version of Bella Cullen, as a newborn vampire, with blood red eyes.

Totally LOVED doing this girl. She's all white, with black mohair hand applied, and painted with only three colors... black, white, and gray. It was so fun to see if I could do it. And I think she turned out well!

Alanis... another doll I remember her name immediately.  Former Euphemia. I really hope Tonner brings back this sculpt on the Antoinette body. But if he does, I'm SUNK.  LOL

Harajuku Girls!

I have collaborated many times with the wonderfully talented Brandon of Wicked Stitchery on some AWESOME Japanese Harajuku Style Ellowyne repaints.

These are some of my favorite dolls of all time!

This was the first Harajuku girl.  I sent Brandon the pics of her face and he came up with the PERFECT outfit!

Lolita style Harajuku girl. Sweet Bo-Peep outfit in black and white.

This was our tough fighter girl.  She is full of attitude and her tattoo says "finished fighting" in Kanji (as best as I could do).  Love her street smart attitude.

Fun and Bright Harajuku Summer girl!

All these girls were auctioned off on eBay and are now in private collections around the world.

WELCOME!!

This will be my new home on the web and I'm so glad to have you here!

I was having major issues with my old website, and decided to switch to a blog format that is easier to maintain and should be more interactive with YOU!

Please switch any bookmarks over to this new blog and I look forward to talking with you!!
